Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that legendary singer Zubeen Garg did not die in an accident but was “murdered,” saying that the ongoing investigation will soon reach a conclusion.
Addressing reporters, Sarma said the state government has set an internal deadline to complete the probe and file the chargesheet in the case.
“I am saying this again..Zubeen Garg did not die in an accident. Zubeen Garg was murdered,” he said.
The Chief Minister informed that the chargesheet must be submitted before December 17, but he has directed officials to complete it by December 8.
“We have to submit the chargesheet before December 17. But I have given a target of December 8,” he said.
Sarma added that international elements are involved in the investigation, necessitating approval from the Union Home Ministry.
“Since part of the investigation is linked to a foreign country, we must send the chargesheet to the Home Ministry first,” he sais.
He said he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday to seek fast clearance. “SIT will send a letter within 3–4 days. After approval, we will file the chargesheet,” he added, hinting that the process may conclude by December 7, 8 or 9.
