Zubeen Garg death ‘scripted,’ claims ex-bandmate amid investigation

As the investigation into the mysterious death of popular singer and actor Zubeen Garg continues, one of his former bandmates, Partha Pratim Goswami, has made startling remarks, claiming that the entire episode surrounding Zubeen’s death appears “scripted” and filled with inconsistencies.

Speaking to reporters in Guwahati on Sunday after a three-hour questioning session at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office, Goswami shared details about his interrogation and expressed frustration over the changing versions emerging around the case.

“Several people were called for questioning today. I reached the CID office at 2 p.m. and left at 5 p.m. There were nine of us present,” he said. “Officials asked about my friendship with Zubeen — how long we had known each other, our days in Mumbai when we shared a room, how I joined the band, and other related matters. They were all normal questions. I have told them that if they need any further information, I am ready to help them 110 percent,” Goswami added.

However, his tone turned serious as he questioned the recent developments in the probe, particularly the fresh claim made by Shekhar Jyoti Goswami that Zubeen might have been poisoned.

“Suddenly yesterday, we hear Shekhar claiming Zubeen was poisoned. Does it take 15 days for someone to say this? If you knew Zubeen was being poisoned and you stayed silent, then you are also a culprit. If tomorrow it is proved that Zubeen was poisoned, then along with Siddharth, Shekhar too should face the same punishment,” Partha asserted.

He also questioned the authenticity of the available evidence, saying there was no clear video showing the actual moment of Zubeen’s drowning. “From day one, I have felt this entire case is scripted. Neither I nor anyone has seen a video showing Zubeen drowning. We only saw him struggling and coming back. Show me the video where Zubeen actually drowned,” he said, referring to those who were reportedly present on the yacht in Singapore on September 19, the day Zubeen died.

Raising doubts about the poisoning theory, Goswami pointed out Singapore’s strict legal system and advanced forensic capabilities. “It’s been over two weeks since Zubeen’s passing, yet the versions keep changing every day. Singapore has some of the most stringent laws and highly advanced medical infrastructure. If there had been poisoning, their authorities would have detected it instantly and taken immediate action. They would not have allowed the suspects to leave the country or the body to be flown back to India,” he said.

He further warned that such allegations, if proven false or exaggerated, could harm diplomatic relations between India and Singapore. “If India later proves that Zubeen was poisoned, who will be blamed? Singapore. Do you think Singapore would take such a huge risk and allow that kind of international embarrassment? I don’t think so,” he said.
