Assam Congress state president and MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday addressed a press conference, raising serious concerns about the handling of the Zubeen Garg case by the state government. Speaking to reporters, Gogoi said that the people of Assam are demanding justice and clarity, and that there appears to be political interference in the case. He alleged that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is protecting certain individuals connected to the incident.

Gogoi said that the government is under intense public pressure to find a solution. “There is a strong demand from the people. This is urgent. People want justice for Zubeen Garg,” he said. He claimed that even after multiple investigations, questions remain unanswered regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Shyamkanu Mahanta and others linked to the case. Gogoi said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not been able to act independently and that political considerations are interfering with justice.

Gogoi also criticized the role of government agencies and political supporters in influencing narratives around the case. He urged the central government to step in to ensure that the investigation proceeds without any bias. “The people are watching closely. Justice must not be compromised. Those responsible must be held accountable,” he said.
