A group of students from Tezpur University has called a public convention in Guwahati on December 19, 2025. The letter inviting student leaders and organisations says that many students feel suppressed and unable to express themselves freely on campus. The organisers say the concerns need sincere attention and a united response.

According to the letter, the students want to come together under one roof to discuss issues affecting them and to demand action from the Ministry of Education. The students say their demands remain unanswered, despite repeated discussions about university governance and the campus environment.

The letter lists four main demands. The first is the removal of Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh and a time-bound inquiry. The second is a probe into alleged financial discrepancies involving Finance Officer Dr. Braja Bandhu Mishra and Executive Engineer Jadav Chandra Nath. The third demand is the constitution of a free, independent and democratically chosen Students’ Union for Tezpur University. The students also want the university to maintain a friendly and inclusive environment fit for a central university.

The letter says the meeting aims to bring all students and concerned community members together to strengthen the collective movement. The student organisers say they want a campus where no one is silenced and every voice is respected.
