Tezpur University is likely to get its new Pro-Vice Chancellor very soon. Professor Amarendra Kumar Das has informed the university community that he has already started the formal process to join the institution. He shared this update through a message addressed to all faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of Tezpur University.
In his message, Prof. Das said that receiving the responsibility of serving Tezpur University as Pro-Vice Chancellor was a privilege for him. He said he considered the role to be a serious and important responsibility. He also said that he hoped everyone in the university community would work together so that the university could move ahead in a positive direction.
Prof. Das stated that there may be people in the university who already know him from the past, and there may also be many others who do not know him personally. However, he expressed confidence that the entire university community would extend goodwill and cooperation. He said that Tezpur University deserved growth, stability and a peaceful academic environment. He added that he wished to work together with teachers, staff and students to bring back the earlier reputation and image of the institution.
In his message, Prof. Das also explained the present status of his appointment and joining process. He said that after being appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, he formally reported the matter to the Chancellor of the university. The Chancellor of Tezpur University is also the Governor of Assam. Prof. Das further stated that he had already written to the authorities at IIT Guwahati, where he is currently working, to seek formal approval to join Tezpur University. According to him, this official process is now in motion and he is waiting for the final clearance.
He added that once the approval comes from IIT Guwahati, he plans to join Tezpur University at the earliest. He indicated that this may happen within the next few days, if the process moves forward smoothly. This has given a clear signal that the university may soon see him taking charge in his new role.
Prof. Das also shared his plans after assuming office. He said that once he reaches the Tezpur University campus and formally takes charge as Pro-Vice Chancellor, he would like to meet the various stakeholders of the university. This includes faculty members, non-teaching staff, students and other groups connected with the administration and academic activities. He said that he would like to listen to their views and concerns directly.
He also mentioned that if there are any grievances or unresolved matters, he would prefer to address them through discussion and cooperation. He stressed the importance of dialogue rather than conflict. He requested everyone in the university community to support this process so that the atmosphere on campus can remain calm and constructive.
In his message, Prof. Das repeatedly highlighted the need for unity and teamwork. He said that only through collective effort can the university move towards normal functioning and long-term growth. He expressed hope that the situation in the university would gradually stabilise and that academic work and student activities would continue smoothly.
