The Tamulpur district administration has returned an amount of Rs 40 lakh to the Government after completing the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Elections held in the district earlier this year. The refund challan was formally handed over in the presence of the Transport Minister of Assam, Shri Charan Boro, during the “Car Mela cum Vehicle Scrappage Facility Programme” organised at Goreswar on 28 December.

The refund was handed over by the District Commissioner of Tamulpur, Shri Pankaj Chakravarty, ACS. According to officials, the amount represents the unspent balance from the total sanctioned fund of ₹2.13 crore allocated for the conduct of the BTC Elections, 2025 in Tamulpur district.

The district administration stated that the elections were completed in a peaceful and transparent manner across all 395 polling stations in the district. No major untoward incident was reported during the polling period. The administration also placed special emphasis on smooth arrangements for both voters and polling personnel.

One of the main highlights of the election process was the Green Election initiative taken up under the leadership of the District Commissioner. As part of this effort, the use of plastic materials was completely stopped during the election process. Instead of plastic items, jute-based materials such as jute bags were used. Tree plantation activities were also carried out at every polling station to promote environmental awareness and responsibility.

The administration also ensured women’s participation in the election process. A total of 30 polling stations were managed entirely by women officials. These polling stations were intended to encourage women’s involvement and leadership in government processes.

At the Material Distribution Centre set up at Tamulpur Senior Secondary School, the administration provided facilities such as seating arrangements and air-conditioning for polling personnel. The approach road leading to the centre was also improved so that election materials and staff could move smoothly without difficulty.
