India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana has reached the highest point of her career in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings, achieving her career-best rating as she continues a remarkable run in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
The 29-year-old left-handed opener has been in excellent form, scoring freely and leading India’s batting charge throughout the tournament. She is currently the leading run-scorer of the World Cup with 365 runs from seven innings, a figure that reflects her consistency and class.
Mandhana’s recent performances — a graceful 109 against New Zealand and an unbeaten 34 against Bangladesh — have lifted her to a career-best rating of 828 points, putting her almost 100 points ahead of Australia’s Ash Gardner, who sits in second place with 731 points. Gardner’s recent unbeaten century against England also helped her climb up six spots in the rankings, but Mandhana remains comfortably on top.
This achievement adds another highlight to what has already been a golden year for Mandhana. She was named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September 2025, following her brilliant form in the ODI series against Australia ahead of the World Cup. Her fluent batting and calm leadership at the top of the order have played a key role in India’s strong showing in the tournament so far.
Mandhana’s opening partner Pratika Rawal has also made an impact, despite being ruled out of the rest of the World Cup due to injury. Before her injury, Rawal scored her maiden World Cup century — a composed and confident 122 off 134 balls against New Zealand — which helped India seal a crucial win. Her efforts were rewarded with a rise to 27th place in the ICC batting rankings, where she now sits with 564 points.
Meanwhile, in the bowling rankings, England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to hold the top spot with a rating of 747, maintaining her dominance in world cricket. Australia’s Alana King has emerged as a major challenger after her superb seven-wicket performance against South Africa. The leg-spinner jumped five places to reach a career-high rating of 698, pushing fellow Australian Ashleigh Gardner down to third position with 689 points.
Despite her slight dip in the bowling rankings, Gardner remains at the top in the All-Rounder Rankings with a rating of 503 points. She is followed by South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp (422 points), who moved ahead of Hayley Matthews from the West Indies. Australia’s Annabel Sutherland continues to make steady progress, moving up to fourth place, while her teammate Alana King also broke into the top ten for the first time with a rating of 262.
India’s World Cup campaign has benefited greatly from Mandhana’s superb form. Her reliability at the top order has given India early stability in matches, allowing the middle order to play with freedom. Fans and cricket experts have praised her maturity, timing, and calm presence under pressure — qualities that have defined her World Cup run.
