In a major breakthrough against wildlife trafficking, police and CRPF personnel recovered a rhino horn from a residence near the Assam–Nagaland border in Golaghat district on Tuesday. The raid was conducted at Chetia village, located close to the CRPF 155(D) camp at Uriamghat.
Officials recovered a rhino horn weighing approximately 1.2 kilograms from the house of one Mojibur Rahman. Rahman was immediately taken into custody for illegal possession and suspected involvement in wildlife trafficking.
According to police sources, the accused confessed during preliminary interrogation that he had purchased the horn from Nagaon. He allegedly intended to smuggle the item into Nagaland for sale in the illegal wildlife market.
