Assam Congress is set for a major boost today as over 8,000 new members are expected to join the party, Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi announced. The induction drive, part of a monthly initiative, is aimed at welcoming leaders and members from other parties into the Congress fold.
Speaking on the occasion, Gogoi said the party has been following a consistent pattern of inductions on the 10th of every month. “We kept our word on 10th September and 10th October, and now 10th November. Today’s induction of over 8,000 people is expected to exceed expectations and create anxiety in the opposite camp,” he said in a post on X, signalling a strong momentum ahead of the upcoming elections.
The Assam Congress chief said the initiative is not just about numbers. “This momentum reflects our vision for a new Assam; a state where people live with dignity, peace, and opportunity,” he added. Gogoi’s announcement comes at a time when political activities in Assam are intensifying, and parties are gearing up for the elections.
The induction drive has already drawn attention across the state, with local party leaders and workers mobilising to welcome the new members. Social media posts from the Congress party highlighted the campaign with hashtags such as #EibaarJujEikhonHobo, #NatunAxomNatunCongress and #BorAxom.
