Congress MLA Rakibuddin Ahmed on Thursday made it clear that the Congress party has no alliance, connection, or understanding with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). He made the statement during a meeting at Sontoli, where several local party workers and supporters were present. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ahmed said that the Congress is not working with the AIUDF in any form and that any such talk is completely false.
Ahmed stated in simple terms that the Congress has moved in a different direction and that the AIUDF has also gone its own way. “The AIUDF has already drifted away. We have no friendship, no relation, and no understanding with them. Our alliance will be with other parties,” he said. His words were direct and firm, leaving little room for further confusion about the party’s stand.
The statement comes at a time when political discussions in Assam are picking up ahead of the coming elections. There have been conversations in political circles about what kinds of alliances the Congress might form to strengthen its position. Ahmed’s clarification signals that the party is looking at other partners and wants to avoid any impression that it is considering a fresh tie-up with the AIUDF.
