In a major reshuffle in the Assam Police Department, several senior IPS officers have been promoted and transferred as part of a large-scale administrative restructuring. The changes are aimed at strengthening the police force and improving its overall functioning across the state.
According to official information, DIG Indrani Barua has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP). Senior IPS officers Kanakjyoti Saikia and Munna Jyoti Mahanta have also received promotions. While Saikia has been elevated to the post of IGP, Mahanta has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
Along with them, IPS officers Bidyut Madhab Rajkhowa, Devjyoti Neog, Jugal Kishore Deka, and Shyamal Prasad Saikia have also been promoted to DIG. These promotions mark an important milestone in their careers and come as part of routine departmental restructuring.
Apart from the promotions, the government has also carried out several transfers within the police department. Officers including Tapan Kumar, Sunita Kumari, Anuradha Lal, Rangam Ubarua and Ajit Talukdar have been transferred to new postings.
In addition to this, Goswami, Sri Yuvraj and Amit Bhuyan have also been moved to other assignments. Names of Mriganka Singh and Rajen Singha are also included in the transfer list.
