The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned a bomb explosion that took place near Seitol in Churachandpur district, calling it a serious threat to peace and public safety. The incident happened on Monday morning at Gamnomphai village, where unidentified miscreants reportedly carried out the blast.
According to the KZC, the explosions occurred between 5:40 am and 8:00 am. The incident left several civilians injured and created panic among the residents of the area. The council said the act was disturbing, irresponsible and a direct attack on innocent people.
In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity wing, the Kuki-Zo Council expressed concern that the explosion took place inside or near a designated buffer zone. These buffer zones have been set up by the government and security forces to prevent clashes and to ensure the safety of civilians. The council said such areas must always be respected by all sides.
The statement said that any violation of the buffer zone weakens the efforts of security forces and creates fear and mistrust among ordinary people who only want peace and stability in their daily lives.
The council also pointed out that the incident took place during the Christmas and New Year festive season. This is normally a time when people focus on peace, prayer and togetherness. Instead, the blast disrupted normal life and disturbed the fragile calm that communities have been trying to rebuild.
The Kuki-Zo Council called on the authorities to carry out a fair and thorough investigation. It urged that those responsible should be identified and punished according to the law. The council also requested security forces to increase vigilance in and around buffer zones so that similar incidents do not take place again.
