The District Commissioner of Kamrup (Amingaon) has changed school timings across the district because of the ongoing cold weather. The order has been issued to ensure the safety and health of students attending classes in the early morning.
The revised timings will remain in force from January 6 to January 13, 2026. The order covers all government and private schools, including Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), under Kamrup district.
As per the new schedule, primary schools will now run from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. Upper primary schools will function from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, while secondary and senior secondary schools will hold classes from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. 
The notification clearly instructs all heads of institutions to strictly follow the revised timings. The administration stated that this step has been taken in the interest of public safety and student welfare. Any deviation from the order will be taken seriously.
The order has come into force with immediate effect. However, any examinations already scheduled will continue as planned, according to earlier instructions.
