The border town of Hahim, where Assam meets Meghalaya, witnessed a warm display of unity and friendship as the Late Majorsing R. Marak Memorial Football Tournament came to a successful close. The tournament, organised by the Hahim Regional Garo Students’ Union, once again turned this quiet border region into a lively meeting point for sports lovers from both states.
Hahim, located right along the interstate border, is known for its close cultural ties and peaceful co-existence between residents of Assam and Meghalaya. This event added another chapter to that spirit by bringing young footballers and supporters together, not as rivals from two states, but as neighbours celebrating sports and harmony.
The final match was played at the Hahim High School playground. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as fans gathered early, waving flags and cheering for their favourite teams. The final was formally inaugurated by noted local social worker Gancheng B. Sangma, who praised the organising team for keeping alive a tradition that inspires young people and strengthens bonds between border communities.
