Garima Garg, the wife of late legendary singer and actor Zubeen Garg, broke her silence on the release of his dream film “Roi Roi Binale”. Garima said that she has still not gathered the courage to watch the movie. The film, which was very close to Zubeen’s heart, has become a symbol of love and remembrance for thousands of his fans across Assam.
Speaking about her feelings, Garima said, “For me, it is an emotional moment. I have not yet gathered the courage to watch the movie or even the video songs. My only wish was to watch the movie with him. That dream will now remain unfulfilled.” She added that every time she hears Zubeen’s songs or sees his face on the screen, it becomes very difficult for her to control her emotions.
Garima recalled how Roi Roi Binale was not just another project for Zubeen but a dream he had nurtured for years. “He wanted to take Assamese cinema to new heights. He would often say that Assamese films deserve the same recognition and respect as any other film industry in India. Seeing people showering love on him and his work is very heartwarming,” she said.
Garima said that Zubeen had always been passionate about promoting Assamese art, music, and films. “He worked tirelessly, even when he was not feeling well. He always said he wanted to make people proud of Assamese culture,” she added.
Garima said, “It’s very emotional for me. Every moment feels heavy.”
Zubeen Garg’s fans across Assam have been expressing their love and support for Garima, calling Roi Roi Binale not just a movie but a tribute to the singer’s dreams and legacy. Many people have shared how the film brought them to tears and reminded them of Zubeen’s unmatched contribution to Assamese music and cinema.
In another part of her statement, Garima also mentioned Shyamkanu Mahanta, who had accompanied Zubeen to Singapore before his demise. She expressed her disappointment over the way things were handled during that time. “I don’t want to speak much about it,” she said. “But I do wonder — why did he take him there? He took a renowned singer like Zubeen Garg to Singapore, yet he did not even provide him with basic things like security or a doctor. And he calls himself a good friend of Zubeen.”
Garima also mentioned Siddharth Sharma and Shekarjyoti Goswami, who were reportedly with Zubeen during the trip. “They could have taken care of him. When he was on the yacht, when he went swimming and started feeling tired, they should have asked him to take rest. They should have looked after him better,” she said.
