Italian singer and actress Gioconda Vessichelli has praised Assam and the late music legend Zubeen Garg after the success of the Assamese film Roi Roi Binale. The film, released on October 31, has received a huge response from audiences across the state, just months after Zubeen Garg’s passing.
In a post on social media, Gioconda said she loved the people of Assam, calling them “the best people I have ever met in the entire world.” She added that more people have seen Roi Roi Binale in just seven days than those who watched Titanic in its first week.
She also wrote that the film, made by Zubeen Garg, deserves international recognition. “Festival de Cannes should consider this movie by the legend of India, Zubeen Garg, who had the second-largest funeral in the world after Michael Jackson,” she said. Gioconda, who sang a special song in the film, promised to help the movie reach audiences around the world.
“Now I understand why Zubeen spoke so highly about his Assamese people. I will make sure Roi Roi Binale becomes an international success so the world can see the amazing talent in Assam,” she added.
