Baksa violence: Two arrested over inflammatory content linked to Zubeen Garg’s death

In a separate case, Md Injamul Hoque, 27, son of Rowsot Uddin of Telia Bebejia under Juria Police Station in Nagaon, was arrested for uploading a controversial video on Facebook using the pseudonym “SK Ahmad” on October 15.

Assam Police have arrested two individuals in connection with separate incidents arising after the untimely demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg, authorities said on Friday. The arrests come amid heightened scrutiny of actions that could incite unrest following the tragic event.

Md Rasim Ali, son of Majnu Ali from Ahopa, was taken into custody after being identified in visuals showing him near a DY365 OB Van that caught fire during a violent incident in Baksa district on October 15. During questioning, Rasim Ali claimed he was not a fan of the late singer and distanced himself from the sentiments of genuine admirers. Police are continuing a detailed investigation to determine his exact involvement in the incident.

In a separate case, Md Injamul Hoque, 27, son of Rowsot Uddin of Telia Bebejia under Juria Police Station in Nagaon, was arrested for uploading a controversial video on Facebook using the pseudonym “SK Ahmad” on October 15. The video, which referenced Zubeen Garg’s death, reportedly contained provocative content. According to police sources, Hoque admitted to obtaining the original clip from an OTT platform and adding inflammatory remarks before sharing it online.

The incidents follow a period of unrest in Baksa, where tensions flared in the aftermath of Zubeen Garg’s death.
