In an operation aimed at maintaining peace and security along the Indo-Myanmar border, Assam Rifles successfully apprehended a key cadre of the NSCN (K-YA) faction. The individual has been identified as SS Sgt Maj Lowang Sapong.

According to officials, the arrested cadre was actively involved in the administrative network and logistics supply chain of the outfit. His activities spanned across multiple areas along the border, facilitating movement and support for the NSCN (K-YA) faction.

“This operation is part of our continued efforts to ensure the safety and stability of the region,” said a senior Assam Rifles officer. “The apprehension of this individual will disrupt the operational network of the outfit and help restore normalcy in the border areas.”

The operation was carried out with precise planning and coordination among various units of the Assam Rifles. Security personnel conducted detailed surveillance before moving in to arrest the cadre without causing any collateral damage or civilian disruption.
