A six-member team from the Standing Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly visited Dhubri on Friday to review the functioning of several government departments and to check the progress of development work in the district. The visit is part of the Assembly’s routine exercise to understand how different departments are performing at the ground level and to ensure that ongoing projects are moving as planned.
The team reached the Dhubri Circuit House around 11:30 am. The delegation is led by Udalguri MLA Gobinda Basumatary, who is also the team leader. Other members of the committee include Katlichera MLA Sujamuddin Laskar, Ajay Roy, Diganta Barman, and Nizanur Rahman. All of them are part of the Standing Committee that has been assigned to check the performance of government offices and development activities in different parts of the state.
Officials said the purpose of the visit is to take a clear and simple review of how eight major departments in Dhubri district are functioning. The committee will hold meetings with the heads of these departments and listen to their updates on ongoing work. The members are also expected to ask questions about delays, challenges, or issues that may be affecting the pace of development in the district.
Apart from meetings, the team will also travel to different project sites to check the actual progress on the ground. This includes infrastructure projects that are under construction as well as completed works that need follow-up review. By visiting these locations themselves, the committee aims to get a real picture of the condition of the projects, instead of relying only on documents or reports.
