A tense situation was reported in the Jamuna–Moudanga area under Doboka in Hojai district after AIUDF leader Bilal Uddin allegedly tried to stop an eviction drive being carried out by the district administration and the Forest Department. The incident took place on Friday while a large-scale drive was underway to clear what officials described as encroached forest land.

According to reports from the ground, there was a verbal clash between the AIUDF leader and Forest Department officials when he reached the eviction site. Bilal Uddin spoke to the officials and also made a phone call to the Deputy Commissioner, during which he questioned the administration over the cutting of trees and plants during the operation. The conversation reportedly turned argumentative for some time.

Despite the objection raised by the AIUDF leader, the district administration continued with the eviction drive. Officials said the land fell under a reserved forest area and had to be cleared as part of an ongoing operation.

Speaking to reporters, AIUDF leader Bilal Uddin said that the government should first make proper arrangements for the affected families before removing them. He claimed that the area in question was not forest land and said he had been repeatedly asking the administration for clarification on the status of the land.

He also expressed concern that ordinary families were losing their homes and said people had been living there for many decades. He questioned what would happen to residents who did not have land documents and asked who would provide them with official land certificates. He further appealed to the government to look after the people and ensure proper relief and rehabilitation.

The leader said there was widespread fear among residents, many of whom were worried about losing shelter. He urged the authorities to act with sensitivity and to keep the safety and dignity of the people in mind while carrying out eviction activities.

Earlier in the day, a massive eviction drive began in the Jamuna–Moudanga reserved forest area under Doboka. The operation is being conducted jointly by the district administration and the Forest Department.

Officials said that over 6,000 bighas of forest land had been under illegal occupation for several years. Around 1,250 families are believed to have been staying in the area. To carry out the eviction, more than 50 bulldozers and earth-moving machines have been deployed.

Security has also been tightened, with a large number of police and CRPF personnel posted at the site to prevent any disturbance. Authorities said that most residents had already vacated their homes after receiving official notices, and many temporary structures were dismantled peacefully.

The drive is being monitored by Special Chief Secretary (Forest) M.K. Yadava, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Hojai, senior forest officials and police officers. They stated that the land belongs to a reserved forest zone and needs to be cleared to protect wildlife and the natural environment.
