Security forces in Manipur arrested an active member of the banned militant group United National Liberation Front (K) [UNLF (K)] during an operation in Kakching district on November 9. The arrest was made at Lamjao Makha Leikai near Pukhri Achouba under Waikhong Police Station.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ningthoujam Inaocha, also known by his aliases Palor and Pandamba, aged 40. He is a resident of Heirok Part-II, Chingdompok, in Thoubal district. According to security officials, Inaocha had been actively involved in extortion activities in different parts of the region and had been under surveillance for some time.
During the operation, the security team seized several items from his possession. The recovered materials include one .32 pistol with a magazine, three rounds of .32 ammunition, one voter ID card, one mobile phone with two SIM cards, a purse containing ₹41,200 in cash, and a two-wheeler suspected to have been used for his movements.
Officials said that the operation was carried out following credible intelligence inputs about the presence of an active UNLF (K) cadre in the area. The arrest, they said, marks another step in the ongoing efforts to curb militant activities in the valley districts of Manipur.
