Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Magh Bihu, also known as Bhogali Bihu, describing the festival as a celebration of joy, gratitude, and brotherhood rooted in Assamese culture.
In his official message, the Prime Minister conveyed warm wishes to the people and their families, underlining the cultural and agricultural significance of the festival.
“Warmest greetings to you and your family on the joyous occasion of Magh Bihu. Embodying the best of Assamese culture, this beautiful festival is indeed an occasion of joy, warmth and brotherhood,” PM Modi said.
Highlighting the spirit behind the harvest festival, the Prime Minister said that contentment and gratitude form the essence of Magh Bihu, as it marks the completion of the harvest season.
“It offers an occasion to appreciate the efforts of those who enrich our lives, particularly our hardworking farmers. It also encourages generosity and care among us,” he added.
Extending his wishes for the year ahead, PM Modi expressed hope for peace, health, and prosperity for all.
“May this Magh Bihu bring peace, good health and happiness in everyone’s lives. I wish that the year ahead is filled with prosperity and success,” the Prime Minister said in his message.
Magh Bihu is celebrated across Assam with traditional community feasts, Meji bonfires, and cultural festivities, symbolising the spirit of unity and gratitude after the harvest season. Leaders and citizens across the state marked the festival with enthusiasm and cultural pride.
