Rakibuddin promises major riverside road linking Nagarbera to Guwahati

Congress MLA Rakibuddin Ahmed has announced that a long riverside road will be built along the Brahmaputra, starting from Nagarbera and running through Sonatoli and Goraimari before reaching Guwahati. He said this proposed road would become an important link for thousands of people living in the riverine areas, where daily travel is often difficult due to poor connectivity.

Ahmed made the announcement on Friday night while speaking at Malibari Pathar under the newly created Chamaria Assembly constituency. He said the construction work is expected to begin after the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections. According to him, the road will not only reduce travel time but will also help people in the char areas get better access to markets, healthcare and education.

The MLA was attending the second annual session of Al-Beruni Model School at Malibari Pathar. During his speech, he said that people living near the river face many problems because of weak transportation links and that this road would bring some relief. He also said that improving connectivity has been one of his key priorities and that he wants to support the aspirations of families who depend on the Brahmaputra for their livelihood.
