In the Zubeen Garg death case, where a One Man Inquiry Commission has been formed, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader and MLA Debabrata Saikia today submitted a detailed affidavit highlighting several issues related to the organization of the Northeast Festival in Singapore. The submission comes at a time when the ongoing Zubeen Garg death case has intensified political and public scrutiny over cultural and governmental events in Assam.

The affidavit, formally identified as ECF-708361, spans 21 pages and includes 7 enclosed documents totaling 22 pages. In the affidavit, Saikia referred to issues he had earlier raised through official letters to various authorities. A key point concerns a recent letter from the Ministry of External Affairs, which reveals that Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma personally provided a handwritten note in favour of Sri Shyamkanu Mahanta for organizing the Northeast Festival abroad.

Represented by advocate Rectan Bergh, Saikia emphasized that the affidavit seeks to ensure transparency and accountability in the approval and selection process for such government-supported events. The documents enclosed include official correspondence and other evidence supporting the points raised by Saikia.
