With the 2026 Assembly elections approaching, political activities across Assam have intensified. Today, Congress MLA from Chaygaon constituency, Rakibuddin Ahmed, made his first visit to the newly formed Chamaria constituency in Kamrup district, drawing large crowds and enthusiastic supporters.

The arrival of the legislator was marked by a grand reception jointly organized by the Goroimari Block Congress and Chamaria Block Congress. Hundreds of Congress leaders, workers, and supporters formed a massive rally from Rajiv Bhawan in Goroimari to Sonatoli. People lined the streets along the route to welcome the MLA, waving flags and chanting slogans in support. Mandal Congress members, Youth Congress volunteers, Booth Congress representatives, and local Panchayat leaders took part in the procession, showcasing the party’s organizational strength in the new constituency.

Upon reaching Sonatoli, Rakibuddin Ahmed attended a Congress meeting presided over by the newly appointed Chamaria Block Congress president, Taizuddin Ahmed. However, the reception was briefly disrupted when a small group raised anti-Rakibuddin slogans at Sonatoli market. Police intervened promptly and restored order. The majority of supporters quickly regained the spotlight with chants of “Rakibuddin Zindabad” and “Welcome Rakibuddin,” turning the market area into a vibrant display of party loyalty.
