The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has successfully collected more than 50,000 signatures during its ‘vote chori’ campaign, aimed at highlighting alleged irregularities in the electoral process. The signatures were recently handed over to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi by APCC President Bosiram Siram.
Speaking to reporters, Siram said, “These signatures are not just numbers. They are the voice of people who feel betrayed. Arunachal Pradesh has always played a key role in the national effort to protect democracy, and we will continue our movement until the true mandate of the people is respected.”
The campaign, which began on September 15 and concluded on October 28, was part of a nationwide initiative led by the AICC and the INDIA bloc alliance. It was conducted under the banner ‘Vote Chori Gaddi Chhod’ and sought to mobilize public opinion against alleged electoral misconduct.
Siram described the campaign as “the beginning of a people’s movement to reclaim democracy.” He said that the Congress party, along with youth, students, women, farmers, civil society members, and grassroots activists, would continue to work together to ensure that the voice of the people is restored and respected in governance.
Party sources said the campaign saw widespread participation across urban and rural areas of Arunachal Pradesh, with volunteers and supporters reaching out to villages, towns, and local communities to collect signatures and engage citizens in discussions about democracy and accountability.
