In yet another case linked to social media activity following the recent Delhi bomb blast, Assam Police have arrested one more person for allegedly making objectionable comments online. The latest arrest took place in Rangia, where a man identified as Wajhul Kamal Haque, a resident of the Cepti area, was taken into custody for posting a controversial remark on his Facebook account.

According to police sources, the youth’s post was found to contain remarks that were seen as insensitive and provocative, given the seriousness of the Delhi blast incident. Soon after the post gained attention, Rangia Police initiated an inquiry and detained Haque for questioning. The authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against him under relevant sections of the law.

This arrest follows a similar incident reported earlier in Bongaigaon district, where another youth, Rafijul Ali, was arrested for making inflammatory comments on social media in connection with the same Delhi blast. Police had stated that Ali’s post was traced quickly after it began circulating online, and he was taken into custody to prevent any further spread of tension or misinformation.

Officials have once again cautioned the public against using social media irresponsibly, especially in situations involving national security and public sensitivity. Law enforcement agencies in Assam have been keeping close watch on social media platforms to identify posts that might provoke communal disharmony or spread false information.

The police have also appealed to citizens to maintain restraint while expressing their views online and to verify facts before sharing or commenting on sensitive issues.
