The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam probing the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg has reportedly left for Mumbai to follow fresh lines of inquiry. The team is said to be led by Additional SP (APS) Moromi Das and will pursue leads that investigators believe have links to persons and transactions outside the State.
The move comes as the SIT has intensified activity in recent weeks including arrests of people close to the singer and scrutiny of suspicious financial transactions uncovered during the probe. Assam police earlier arrested two of Garg’s personal security officers and questioned several others as part of the inquiry.
Investigators have also been working from forensic evidence. Post-mortem and toxicology reports from Singapore were received by Assam authorities, and viscera and other samples have been sent to central laboratories for detailed testing.
