In the ongoing investigation into the death of singer and actor Zubeen Garg, his wife Garima Saikia Garg on Saturday said that she has chosen not to accept the post-mortem report conducted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). She said making the report public at this stage could interfere with the investigation.

Earlier in the day, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted the report to Zubeen’s family, following which Garima addressed the media, explaining her decision. “Since the investigation is still underway, I felt making the post-mortem report public at this moment could hamper the process. That is why I have not accepted it,” Garima stated.

She expressed confidence in the legal process and said that she wanted the report to remain with the authorities until the probe reached its conclusion. “I trust the law. I don’t know much about legal matters. The post-mortem report should remain with the court and the investigating officers. I believe the investigation is moving ahead properly,” she said, maintaining her faith in the system.

Garima’s decision comes at a time when the people of Assam continue to demand clarity over the mysterious circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death. The singer’s passing has sparked deep emotions across the state, with fans, artists, and public figures urging the authorities to uncover the full truth.

Calling for a fair and transparent investigation, Garima said the family is seeking nothing but justice. “We must know what actually happened very soon. The investigation must be intensified. Whoever is guilty should face the strictest punishment,” she said.

Garima said that the post-mortem report was not her personal property but a legal document meant for the court and investigators. “I have lost my husband. I can never get him back. But he must get the justice he deserves. Give justice to Zubeen Garg,” she appealed.

She also said that both she and Zubeen’s sister, Palme Borthakur, gave their statements to the SIT earlier in the day. According to sources, the SIT has been recording statements of close family members, associates, and witnesses as part of its ongoing inquiry.

Addressing the recent claims made by Shekhar Goswami, who alleged that Zubeen was poisoned, Garima questioned the credibility of such statements. “If Shekhar Goswami knew that Zubeen was poisoned, why did he hide it for so long? In this case, the guilty must receive the harshest possible punishment. My husband loved everyone so much; even then, why was he treated like this?” she said.
