The investigation into the untimely death of celebrated Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore has taken a significant turn, with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoning two of his personal security officers (PSOs) for questioning. Authorities are trying to gather every possible detail regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident that occurred on September 19, 2025.

The CID’s move comes amid growing concerns over negligence by those present during the singer’s last moments. Zubeen’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has repeatedly raised questions about the actions of his manager, Siddharth, and other associates, stating that they failed to notice Zubeen’s exhaustion and did not prevent him from swimming without a life jacket. “It is clear that those present did not ensure his safety. They should have intervened,” Garima said.

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has contacted several Assamese individuals who were present on the yacht in Singapore. Notices have reportedly been sent, and Abhimanyu Talukdar and Tanmoy Phukan have confirmed they will travel to Assam on October 7. The others are yet to confirm their arrival. Singapore police have also engaged with Garima Garg to gather her account of the events.

In addition to the investigation, Garima said that she had tried to reach Zubeen’s manager and associates immediately after the incident, but many phones were unreachable. She emphasized that the family requested clarification on the events, but no one provided it at the time. Videos and photos that surfaced online in the days following the tragedy have raised further concerns about gross negligence on the part of those present.
